Elements of Railway Engineering

Railways are one of the main transportation modes. Understanding of the basic principles of the railway systems, which include both the railway track and rolling stock, is essential for all railway related activities, such as new designs and improvements of existing railway systems, assessment of system performance, developing and planning of inspection and maintenance procedures, as well as in management of railway assets and the decision making process. This course mostly concentrates on railway track structure, yet the main elements and the dynamic principles of the rolling stock will be explained as well.
