Railway Asset Management

Railway assets, both infrastructure and rolling stock, can have a long life expectation if properly managed. By avoiding premature termination of life cycles of the components and (sub-) systems, the life span of railway assets can be greatly extended. As a consequence, an overall improvement of the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of the railway system can be reached, and at the same time a positive impact on the environment. In railway networks of nowadays, the improvement of the economic viability and its robust competitiveness with other transport modes are essential issues that can be strengthened with adequate railway asset management. This course is designed to give a systematic and in-depth training on management of railway assets, so to reach the best performance of the whole system.
