Meet our team

Gerben Scheepmaker is a PhD candidate at the department of Transport and Planning, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Scheepmaker has his BSc in Civil Engineering from University of Twente (2010), the Netherlands. Afterwards, Scheepmaker received his MSc in Civil Engineering (Transport and Planning) at TU Delft. After finishing his MSc thesis on energy-efficient train control at the Netherlands Railways (NS), Scheepmaker started to work at NS focussing on rolling stock planning. After one year, Scheepmaker changed his focus to the strategic timetable design process. Currently, Scheepmaker works as a Business Analyst for the strategic timetable design department of NS focussing on new methods and systems for timetable design and simulation. Commissioned by NS, Scheepmaker started his PhD research on energy-efficient train control and timetable design at the department of Transport and Planning of TU Delft in 2014.

Scheepmaker has experience in timetable and rolling stock design and optimization and energy-efficient train driving.
